Ryman Auditorium 116 5th Avenue North, Nashville, TN, 37219

When it was just opened in 1892, Ryman Auditorium was known as the Union Gospel Tabernacle. The venue was named after its founder Thomas Ryman, to honor him after his death. The structure of venue was done by the architect Hugh Cathcart Thompson. From 1943 till 1974, the venue was used for Grand Ole Opry broadcasts. And efter 1974, the Opry moved to Nashville for a larger space at the Opryland USA theme park.

After the departure of Opry, a large circle from the floor of the venue’s stage, and then the venue was mostly vacant. In 1992, the artist Emmylou Harris and her band decided to make a series of performances there. And those concerts really revived interest in Ryman, and in 1994 it was reopened as a museum and intimate performance.

In 1971, the venue appeared in the list of National Register of Historic Places and in 2001 it was considered a National Historic Landmark. In 2012, an announcement was made that the stage of the venue that was installed in 1951 will be replaced. And in the old stage’s place a medium-brown Brazilian teak comes and a camera-friendly. Below the stage, hickory support beams that were originally built with the stage are kept and strengthened with crossbeams, solid foundations, and joist work that is intended to increase the capacity of stage's load.
